SCHOLARSHIP
The economic pressure on many creates the need to engage in the informal labor market all too often at the sacrifice of their education, health and family life; they are trapped in jobs with sub-optimal conditions that also deprive their families of better opportunities. Our goal is to ensure access to vocational and technical training courses adapt to their backgrounds and limitations of our population that translate into certification and subsequent employment. This program is designed to support academic success and guarantee as much as possible the insertion into the formal labor market. To this end an excellent support network and a rigorous follow-up system.
El Hormigón Armado makes a careful selection of beneficiaries (young mothers, number of dependents, etc.), their situation (support, family, etc.) and barriers they may face during their training. After seek sponsors (individuals and companies) to finance their studies by offering them follow-up/contact according to their wishes (video blogs, correspondence, physical or Zoom meetings with the beneficiaries, etc.). We seek to finance the academic career according to the specific needs of the beneficiaries (percentage of the cost of the course and materials, childcare, health, etc.). During their academic career the beneficiaries come under the umbrella of project support that includes health support (up to first-degree relatives), legal advice, social work, work space, follow-up and the full support of our team to solve any problems they face to the best of our ability until their graduation and subsequent hiring.
Our support network is composed of the highest quality organizations and institutions available in their field (education, health, psychology, legal support, etc.) through agreements and cooperation. Since the start of this program in 2014, thanks to the support of the EGS Foundation, between 10 and 15 scholarship holders per year are supported in studies with a duration ranging from 6 months to 3 - 4 years. In that time until the end of 2022, more than twenty scholarship holders have successfully completed their studies and entered the formal labor market in various ways.

SUMMARY
Sponsoring the education of a shoeshiners (or immediate family member) is very easy and totally flexible to your preferences. Through sponsorship we finance tuition and all related study materials for a range of technical and vocational courses. Beneficiaries are backed by a comprehensive support network that includes, during their studies, health support for them and their immediate family members, free legal support, an excellent study space with tutoring by university students and support in social work. Given that we work with a particularly vulnerable population, key to our success is a very strong relationship and continuous follow-up by our social worker and a team of volunteers. We do everything to ensure, as much as possible, the proper completion of academic studies and subsequent job placement. We share with you our follow-up by documentation of the progress of our sponsored students through various media such as video blogs. Through these, you will see the beneficiaries in their current life, their homes and work. You can follow them through their studies additionally at their graduation and in a better life. If you wish, we can also develop a mailing relationship with the beneficiaries and set up Zoom meetings. Also we are open to any other suggestions to accommodate your wishes. Having already graduated many people, we have seen how this program can effectively break the very cruel poverty cycle of marginal employment of shoe shiners and their families.
