social programs

The Hormigón Armado Project manages two lines of work within its programs: social support programs and programs for generating socio-productive enterprises in the creative economy. The first are programs that provide social support services for access or better access to rights such as quality education, health, or legal advice. This work is developed by offering workshops and training cycles in different tools for integral development, based on rights and gender equality, for the members of the Hormigón Armado Collective, as well as support in scholarships and schooling. This social work requires the cooperation and financing of our allies. The entrepreneurship programs, such as the newspaper or the tours, are designed to generate access to new economic activities that diversify the resources of the members of the Hormigón Armado Collective. These programs and undertakings are designed to be sustainable in the long term and/or be self-managed by the Hormigon Armado Collective.
The following are programs in the line of social support:

Scholarships

The economic pressure on many creates the need to engage in the informal labor market all too often at the sacrifice of their education, health and family life; they are trapped in jobs with sub-optimal conditions that also deprive their families of better opportunities. Our goal is to ensure access to vocational and technical training courses adapt to their backgrounds and limitations of our population that translate into certification and subsequent employment. This program is designed to support academic success and guarantee as much as possible the insertion into the formal labor market. To this end an excellent support network and a rigorous follow-up system.

Support and advice in health and legal issues and social work

Since its founding, the Hormigón Armado Project has not failed to provide financial and logistical support to any of the members for any emergency health case of any of the members of the Collective that has required it. The dimension of the support has always depended on the size of the case and, above all, on the funds available at the time.

The funds for health support, specifically in cases of emergency, come from the members' own resources, donations, campaigns members of the Fundación Arte y Culturas Bolivianas, donations, campaigns (e.g. Luca Quivo's campaign in 2019 for a health fund for Hormigón Armado) and specific activities are also generated from the sale of the Hormigón Armado Newspaper, postcards, CD ́s and others, as printed in the pages of the newspaper itself. With these different means generate a health fund for the cases that need to be attended, which are fluctuating.

School support

Poverty forces thousands of children to juggle between school work and economically productive activities. Hormigón Armado supports up to 20 children a year in this module to reduce their need for economic participation and allow for a greater emphasis on academic work. School Support is also expanded in number of beneficiaries, schedules and facilitators through projects and support. In 2018, 2020 and 2021, this program has been part of a series of empowerment and integral development projects aimed at the Hormigón Armado Collective that have strengthened the program with greater access to technology, educators and others.

Workshops

In exchange for selling the newspaper El Hormigón Armado and receiving all the benefits of the project, the beneficiary population must participate in weekly workshops. For these we have an ideal space with educational material and refreshments for each participant.

Marias Quimio Kit

María´s Quimio Kits is a project of the Bolivian Art and Cultures Foundation that is being assembled little by little and involves the beneficiaries of the Hormigón Armado Project as one more enterprise in which they can generate additional resources - and thus access to economic rights - through the elaboration of the "magic stars" in origami that are part of this initiative, and now, also the elaboration of the bags in tocuyo and screen-printed of the Chemio Kits - in addition to the possibility of making other elements that are included. The latter is through the cutting and tailoring laboratories.
